Travel medical insurance covers unexpected health costs while you're away from Moldova: an emergency consultation, a hospital stay, surgery, medication or — in the worst case — a medical flight home. In many countries you pay all of it yourself if you have no policy.
For a Moldovan citizen that matters twice over: CNAM doesn't cover you across the border, and private hospitals in the EU, the UAE or Asia charge several thousand euros for a routine case. One night in hospital in Greece can exceed 1,500 EUR; treatment plus repatriation from Thailand quickly runs into the tens of thousands. The policy is the difference between an interrupted holiday and a debt.

A visa requirement
For a Schengen visa, a policy of at least 30,000 EUR is required in your application. The UAE, Egypt and other destinations either require it or check for it at the border.
The real costs
CNAM does not cover treatment abroad. A medical emergency in the EU, the UAE or Asia is paid in full by you — anywhere from hundreds to tens of thousands of euros.
Repatriation
If your condition requires a medical flight home, an air ambulance easily exceeds 20,000 EUR. The policy covers it in full.

Is medical insurance compulsory?
For a Schengen visa, yes — at least 30,000 EUR of cover, required in your application. Many other destinations (the UAE, Egypt, Thailand) ask for it at the border or strongly recommend it. Even where the law doesn't require it, you're travelling unprotected without it.
What exactly does it cover?
Emergency consultations, hospital treatment, emergency surgery, prescribed medication, medical transport and repatriation. The higher packages add emergency dental care, COVID-19 and sports.
What does it cost?
From 7 EUR per person per week (Standard, 30,000 EUR). Plus at 50,000 EUR from 12 EUR; Premium at 100,000 EUR from 25 EUR. Young children and groups of 3 or more get a discount.
Is the insurance included in my package enough?
For most holiday destinations, yes. For places where medical care is expensive (the USA, Canada, Australia, Japan) we recommend Plus or Premium, with a higher insured amount.
Does it cover COVID-19?
Standard doesn't. Premium includes treatment, quarantine costs and repatriation related to COVID-19.
What about sports?
Snorkelling, skiing and snowboarding on marked pistes are included in Premium. Bungee jumping, mountaineering, diving below 40m and other extreme activities are added as an extra — tell us in advance.
How do I get one through the agency?
Send us your passport details and dates, choose the package, pay (card, transfer or cash) and get the PDF policy by email the same day. No trip to the office.
Do you handle visas too?
We don't issue visas — the rules change often and the application goes to the embassy. What we do provide is a medical policy that meets Schengen requirements, plus up-to-date information on what each destination asks for.
